What can a player prop research site help you check?

A player prop is a market on an individual player’s statistic, such as receiving yards or points. A useful research view keeps the player, game, sportsbook, side and exact threshold together. An over 50.5 receiving-yards line and an over 60.5 line ask different questions, even when they concern the same player.

Sideline brings published lines, recorded game logs and historical samples into one workspace. It helps you examine a pick; it does not provide guaranteed winners or turn historical hit rates into a forecast.

How to research a player prop

  1. Start with the exact offer.

Choose a sport, player and market. Compare the available sportsbook lines and check the game time. A different threshold, side or price is a different offer. Confirm the current offer directly with its source before acting.

  2. Inspect the recorded games.

Open the player’s game log. Select Last 5, Last 10 or a longer available history range. Check the number of recorded games, opponents and dates rather than relying on a percentage alone. Missing statistics remain unavailable.

  3. Compare relevant context.

Review available matchup, injury, workload and teammate-participation information. Use the reported source and timestamp to judge freshness. A player being absent does not by itself establish another player’s role or extra workload.

  4. Test the sample and threshold.

Try venue, opponent or supported game-condition filters. Changing an analysis line changes the historical question; it does not change the published sportsbook offer. Small or selectively filtered samples can give a misleading impression.

  5. Keep the reasoning with the pick.

Use an optional account to save a published selection to your private watchlist. Share a research card and link when you want someone else to inspect the same view. Recheck availability and the source line because both can change.

What is available on Sideline Research?

Sportsbook line comparison
Compare published player prop thresholds from the selected sources. Coverage varies by player, market and sport.
Player game logs and history filters
Inspect recorded results, recent samples and supported contextual filters. Historical hit rates describe that sample against the selected line.
Line movement
Review recorded source observations where available. Observation gaps are not a complete tick-by-tick price history, and a change alone does not explain why it happened.
Exchange market research
Supported Kalshi and Polymarket contracts include their own threshold and buy price. Check the contract’s settlement rules; an exchange contract and a sportsbook prop are not automatically equivalent.
Watchlist and sharing
Browse available pregame research without an account or credit card. A free optional account supports a private watchlist; research cards and links help you share a view.

Which sports can I research?

NFL player prop research includes available football markets such as passing, rushing and receiving. College football research covers FBS and FCS rosters, with prop and context coverage depending on the source.

NBA and WNBA player research let you compare published basketball props with recorded games. Check the board for the currently available slate. An off-season or empty board does not imply a new injury or a missing player.

Questions about player picks and betting research

Is Sideline Research free?

Available pregame research is free to browse without an account or credit card. An account is optional for saved research. Live Props is planned separately and is not available yet.

Does a high historical hit rate mean a pick will win?

No. It describes recorded games in the selected sample against the selected threshold. It is not a calibrated probability, expected return or promise about the next game. Sample size, changing circumstances and price all matter.

Is this a sportsbook or a service that places bets?

No. Sideline Research is a research tool. It does not accept wagers or place bets for you. You make your own decisions; there is no requirement to bet to use the site.

How should I compare sites that help with player picks?

Look for inspectable source lines, timestamps, game logs, clear sample sizes and explanations of missing data. Check whether a site distinguishes an analysis threshold from an available offer, and whether it labels predictions and historical results accurately. Sideline’s credits and research notes explain its sources and limitations.
